AI Collaboration at Armasuisse, implications in Business and Defence
I went this week to a one-day workshop, along with brilliant minds, organized by Federal Office for Defence Procurement armasuisse 🇨🇭. The workshop was an open collaboration with civilians to understand how AI will play a part in our future and its meaning for defence. 🤖 🔒 🌐
There were many realizations from my side throughout the day, thanks to the outstanding presentations and exchanges with other attendees. It was very intense with 3 languages spoken during the day (lucky me I could follow).
Some takes from my side and more business wise:
AI means that we have automated many areas that weren't automated a couple of years ago. We are working today in a highly automated environment. Small players are empowered, in the battlefield, and in the business world.
How will organizations be structured? Hierarchical, team-based or skill-based? Person + agents? It seems that large organizations will struggle the most to benefit from this new way of working due to lack of flexibility.
What is the potential unlocked by AI in human augmentation? A percentage increase? 3x? Unlimited? It depends on the task to be performed. Fabien Girardin explained his experience at the Spanish bank BBVA in a macro trial of AI utilisation with 2,900 AI assitants and agents, discovering 900 use cases of strategic interest.
I briefly commented how as an entrepreneur I do not feel overwhelmed by activities that are not of my expertise, as I can always ask for counselling to AI and get its educated guess. I dared to comment about the future company structure of one person.
Back to defence. AI agentic guerrilla?
Will be potentially a major threat. Random individuals with access to tools and the right knowledge to maximize their outcomes at a pace never experienced in the past. While the power of individuals becomes unlimited, please take this philosophically, as laws of nature and physics apply.
You still need to educate yourself to run the AI agents orchestra, and while remaining alert and objective to some AI persuasion and deception.
Important remark by Pascal Wicht : remember we are the clients of major AI Large Language Models, the more time we spend with their software, the more time consumed, the more credits consumed, the more we pay them in subscription, remain cautious and not in their loop.
Btw, the second time I meet a Swiss parliament member, they are really on the ground doing the job of representing institutions and preparing themselves for it.
I would love to take part in the next editions of these collaborations! Inspiring!
